Re: Local Fishing Boats operating at Port Louis Harbour
Owners of local Fishing Boats (having lengths less than 24 metres) are hereby informed that the Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA) will, as from Monday 15 May 2023, apply the provisions of Section 22(1) of the Ports Act 1998 to recoup outstanding fees accrued in respect of the Fishing Boats operating in the port area.
Accordingly, Fishing Boats will not be allowed to leave the port and access to port premises will be denied to their crew members, pending the settlement of all their respective arrears due to the MPA.
The MPA also reserves its rights to extend the above principle to local Fishing Boats entering the port area.
The Ministry of Blue Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping has already been informed of the above.
